Insight: Italy has drinkable fountains that add beauty and are sustainable. Insufficient investment in water infrastructure, maintenance, and management hinders efforts to expand access to clean water.

Connection to Moen: Mission Moen should fight for water access. This two-way idea helps benefit women and girls in far away, underserved communities who are missing school and getting injured while carrying water to their communities. It also directly benefits the community it’s built in with fresh, recycled water while making a statement.

What if: We design a beautiful fountain to sustainably convert rainwater and runoff to public drinking water. People can scan to “toss a coin” and virtually donate to women and girls in water-insecure places. At night, design will glow representing the 0.5% of water available.
